After spending the last six years on TV winning over geek hearts as the sassy no-nonsense reporter Lois Lane on SMALLVILLE, Erica Durance has found her way onto our TV sets yet again and this time aimed to take those hearts throbbing into overdrive by slipping on the silver bracelets of Wonder Woman for an episode of HARRY'S LAW.
The episode that aired on January 11th on NBC, starred Durance as a psychologically damaged woman who takes on the persona of the popular DC Comics character to exact vigilante-style justice.
Since the last Wonder Woman project (the failed Adrianne Palicki NBC tv pilot) went nowhere, I thought it was only fair to share the image of another gorgeous and talented actress donning the star-spangled outfit. Erica Durance crush renewed.
Watch a clip of Erica's appearance on HARRY'S LAW last month on Hulu.

TV: New Shows to Watch for Next Season (Commentary)
The last few weeks have been filled with network upfronts announcing the slate of shows scheduled for this fall, and GeekPlate decided to check out the previews of all of the new shows announced and showcase the ones that seemed most interesting.
Terra Nova. FOX. Mondays.
A group of settlers leave in an environmentally ravaged future and are sent into the past in an attempt to give humanity a second chance at surviving. The new settlement is based in prehistoric times when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Steven Spielberg is an executive producer and Stephen Lang ("Avatar") plays the commander of the settlement.
Hart of Dixie. CW. Mondays.
A young city doctor struggling to make her place in the world finds herself adjusting to the small town life after inheriting a local medical practice. Josh Schwartz ("Chuck") is executive producer and Rachel Bilson ("Jumper") stars.
The Playboy Club. NBC. Mondays.
Centered around the infamous Playboy Club in 1960's Chicago following the rise and fall of the first Playboy bunnies. Eddie Cibrian ("Third Watch") and Amber Heard ("Drive Angry") star.
New Girl. FOX. Tuesdays.
An unlucky-in-love school teacher moves away from her ex and in with three rowdy men. Zooey Deschanel ("500 Days of Summer") and Damon Wayans Jr. star in the sitcom.
MIDSEASON (Unfortunately some really stellar shows are being held off until midseason. Here are two of them.)
Alcatraz. FOX. Mondays.
An investigation is created when prisoners and guards who mysteriously disappeared from the island prison decades ago suddenly reappear in the present. JJ Abrams is executive producer with Jorge Garcia ("Lost") and Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park") stars.
Awake. NBC.
An injured detective wakes up from a car accident to find himself living in two different realities: one where his wife survived the crash and one where his son survived instead. Jason Isaacs ("Harry Potter") stars.

TV: NBC's Wonder Woman in Action With New Look (News)
Two weeks ago the first promotional shot of the new live-action incarnation of Wonder Woman for NBC's pilot came out to a mixed reaction from fans and observers alike. Fear not doubters, because it appears that NBC took notice.

During filming in the streets of Los Angeles last night, Adrianne Palicki and her stunt double were wearing a different Wonder Woman costume from the promo image, instead the pants were a darker blue and the boots were back to the signature red with the previous heels now non-existent. Early buzz on the change towards a more classic feel for the costume have been positive.

TV: First look at NBC's Wonder Woman (News)
Following the news in January that NBC gave the go-ahead to a Wonder Woman pilot comes today the first released image of actress Adrianne Palicki in her full Wonder Woman glory.

The pilot has been filming this week in Los Angeles and actors Cary Elwes ("The Princess Bride") and Elizabeth Hurley ("Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me") have been cast for the show. Elwes playing the CEO of Diana's company, Themyscira Industries, and Hurley as an antagonist character running a pharmaceutical company creating a drug making users stronger.
As for the costume, it is not surprising that the show chose to stay away from the classic Wonder Woman look given that her comic book counterpart is currently wearing a different uniform as well. The NBC version does have some similarities to Diana's new comic outfit with the blue pants and the blue boots keep with the single color uniformity. The image does not give any sign if a jacket is part of the ensemble but I do think it would work if included.
The Wonder Woman TV show if picked up by NBC should premiere on the network this fall.

TV: Wonder Woman Pilot Greenlit by NBC (News)
The folks over at Deadline announced late Friday night that new NBC entertainment president Bob Greenblatt had decided in a day of high-profile television pilot pickups to throw into the mix David E. Kelley's proposed Wonder Woman series.

The last time Wonder Woman was seen on TV was in the critically acclaimed animated series Justice League Unlimited on Cartoon Network five years ago but now the time has come for her to return to the small screen once again.
The previously shelved WBTV project is described as a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics character in which she is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but at the same time a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance her extraordinary life. Series creator Kelley has experience with forming successful television shows, including one focused around a woman - Ally McBeal - that became a culture phenomenon in its heyday.
Will this series follow in Ally McBeal's path? It is too soon to speculate but the fact that a Wonder Woman television series is finally getting off the ground after years of no traction on the movie front makes this a success no matter how it turns out.

TV: 2010 SDCC News Highlights
Over the last weekend several industries traveled down to San Diego for a series of panels and interviews for fans that unveiled plans for the following year. Here's some of the interesting TV news to come out:
--Felicia Day is coming aboard the Syfy series "Eureka" for 10 episodes next season. The charming, web-friendly actress has won over the web and seeks to spread her influence to the tv market.
--A new Transformers animated series is coming, Transformers Prime with a cg skin and will reunite the voices of Peter Cullen and Frank Welker in their classic roles of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
--The Smallville panel on Sunday confirmed that the big baddie for the final season is indeed Darkseid. Expect a future blog post on my dream season 10 for Smallville. Kryptonsite has started posting interviews from SDCC with the actors.
--During the Chuck panel, it was revealed that the role of Chuck's mom would be played by Linda Hamilton ("Terminator 2"). If the show can carry the lighter, fun feel that the extended part of season 3 had, Chuck should gain good momentum towards a fifth season.
--Out after SDCC but worth including, G4 is teaming up with Sony to create 4 animes based off Iron Man, X-Men, Wolverine & Blade. All stories veer towards a Japanese storyline and I wonder just how interesting American audiences will find it. Perhaps short stories/movies ala the Animatrix or the Batman animes would have been a safer bet.
